Why am I not a Christian?

One reason is because I prefer a religion that isn't shoved down my throat at every turn, telling me I'm going to go to hell and won't have eternal salvation. I've already been clinically dead and I've seen where I'm going, and I'm not scared in the least.

Another is your 'God' took the life of a perfectly healthy baby boy which was my brother.

Another is the Christian faith is beyond hypocritical.

But the main reason.. is because your God is allowing famine and war to run rampant in ALL countries, not just third world.. He is allowing mind control, he is allowing meth labs to be built, he is allowing babies to be born addicted to crack, he is allowing people to commit heinous acts 'in the name of the Lord' and then ask for money to rebuild their congregation.. and you want to know why? Because he was the dumbass who gave man free will.. He's not exactly the brightest crayon in the box, is he?

Sorry, I wouldn't be Christian even if I was on the payroll... I didn't ask for someone to 'die for my sins'... My 'sins' are my own, and I prefer to call them 'mistakes'...

Simple-because I am a hereditary Witch. I was raised Pagan, and that's that. It's what I know and I have studied Christianity and personally find it to be quite hypocritical and completely obsurd! I mean, Jesus was a Jew, and the word CHRIST at the end of his name was in fact placed there by Christians (no, Christ is NOT Jesus' real name).

I have nothing against those who call themselves Christian. I have quite a few friends who are, in fact Christian. But they accept me for my faith and my beliefs and know where I stand and they don't try to shove it in my face, up my ass, etc. etc.

I do not like organized religion and find it quite confusing that the bible has umpteen million different versions and umpteen million different interpretations.

I find it hard to believe that Jesus didn't have sex. Sorry, but he was human-and he was a man. Naturally that part won't be told in the bible, and it surely won't be recognized by the Christian faith but honestly-I don't really think that God intended for just men and women to be partners in this act of love and pleasure.

If God is in fact in charge of all that is created, then don't you think he would have done a little more fine-tuning and made it so that it would be impossible for two of the same sex to even find each other remotely attractive?? Makes sense to me-remember that the bible has been rewritten over the years and I strongly believe that alot of this re-writing was done by those who actually consider them SELVES to be God!

I am not christian anymore for the fact that I don't believe in anykind of religion that tries to tell you that if you don't do this or that then you will not be accepted/saved/go to hell etc. I had a catholic upbringing, but always felt it wasn't for me, it wasn't until I was 24 that I was introduced to other spiritual paths (wiccan, pagan, native american)that I truly felt comfortable and I didn't have to worry about what people thought of me..also my husband found this quote in the bible we have genesis 1:26 "then God said "Let US make human beings in OUR image and likeness."so that is basically saying that there is more then one god. came from new century version bible but it may be different in other bibles that would be interesting to find out...

I do not believe in the Bible. I too think it is a work of fiction. I do not think there is a person named Jesus ever created and I do not think there is a devil .

I do not understand how these religious people can celebrate the birth of their Christ by giving each other presents that some fat man in a red suit magically delivers by squeezing his ass down their chimney. If they are so proud why not take away this Santa and truly use the day to celebrate the birth of your Saviour?

I also do not understand how the miraculous raising of Jesus from death is accepted by these christians as a Giant Bunny bringing eggs for you.

I think it's funny that when I first read this thread "Personal Jesus" by Depeche Mode came on my media player.

I tend to think of the Bible as being a book of fables. I think that Jesus probably was a real (and good-hearted, though maybe slightly insane)man, but I don't believe in "god", or any god or goddess for that matter. I have a huge interest in greek mythology, just because it is VERY interesting.

Does it really matter what god (if any?) someone believes in as long as they're a good person?

Jesus and his teachings are awesome. Xianity itself is a wonderful concept. That is, IMHO, until you get into a power struggle over souls ( i,e live THIS way..), money and control.

I left RCC because of 2 issues: Birth control and women priests. I love the rituals and mass and admire anyone who can do it - it's a very hard religion, as anyone who has confessed to a priest knows.

I hate what most organized religions have done to women. Rather then celebrate the uniqueness and wonder of women and their bodys, they make sex dirty and threaten eternal condemnation for not following the teachings of a man.

In Atlanta, some Bishop came out a month ago - no symbolic washing of women's feet, just men ( they mimic the last days of JC & his feet being washed & anointed with oil) later, the Bishop finally backed down & let women do it. The whole 'unclean' crap really pissies me off.

Also, what piss me off as well - how can you be so called Holy - driving a merc or bmw while the guy living in the streets is starving? The whole Jim & Tammy Fay Baker crowd from the 80s. Yuck.

My opinion: whatever gets you thru the day. You can pray to God(s), who ever fills your soul and do it anywhere and have it have meaning.

Too many people mix up religion with faith. They can recite what their priest/pastor tells them, but they cannot internalize it to any true sense and make it their own. Sad really.

Nothing in Xianity itself is unique. The idea of an ascension is from Zoraism (sp). Other tenants of the religion come from popular religions as well. That's why I really wish people learned real world history as well as the 'Good Book.' They'd be amazed if they really looked at it.
