I am so sorry. (My sis has gone through something similar where the neighborhood crackhead has broken into her house FOUR times, the last time wiping out pretty much everything.) I would suggest calling local pawn shops and speaking to their owners. Maybe some of your stuff will show up there.

I agree with Blue.
The other thing to remember is many times people KNOW what's in the unit. (they say most times people are robbed it's someone that knows them....or so i read somewhere)
and it's a downright shame that people would do something like that, especially this time of year (if your wii was registered online, it may be possible to track it that way too.)

oh man! people just disgust me sometimes! i hate theives! all of the houses and apartments i've ever lived in, except for i think ONE, was broken into at some point. and they were all in nice neighborhoods too! as a matter of fact, where we are now, in the last 3 years, we've been broken into 4 times..twice they didn't even get anything, apparently they just liked sifting through my panty drawer and making a disgusting, nasty "man mess" if you know what i mean. talk about scary!!! and good luck with the police, we've yet to recover anything that was taken any of the times, except what i recovered myself once when it turns out i knew the person who did it one of the times. i'm so sorry this has happened to you (and well, most everyone else on here too! wow!)

Ugh. That sucks. I hate thieves. So many of us fall on hard times, but it takes a real piece of shit to go around stealing other people's stuff like they are somehow entitled to it. Just the other day my partner had his car broken into. They stole some CDs, his check book and his photo I.D. badge for work (he works for the state). We found out the next day, that my friend's car across the street was also broken into, so I'm guessing the asshole just went though the entire parking lot. I live in a wealthy part of town, though I am not wealthy. A lot of rich people live here, and there are police on every corner. You can't so much as walk down the street at night without being pulled over. They will ask what you are doing, and will follow you around if they feel you are bad news. I have a lot of respect for the cops here, and they did come here and take a report from my partner, but I think the reality is that most people never get their stuff back. Even if an officer was to come by and make you feel better about the situation, it wouldn't mean you had more of a chance of getting anything back. They just don't come dust for fingerprints and waste their time every time someone gets a T.V. or some CDs and games stolen. You know? It fucking sucks... but that's just the way it is, unfortunately. :\ It just happens so often... I doubt they even have the resources to do it. I mean, look at this post. It happens so often that most of us have our own story, or have been robbed multiple times ourselves. Karma will catch up to them. ::huge hugs:: Just don't feel so bad about moving. Things like this happen everywhere.

I'm so very sorry you're having to go through this. I despise cowards that prey on people homes. Snakes in the grass the lot of 'em. Thank goodness no one was harmed (except those pieces of shit of course.) Unfortunately this is the time of year when home/auto theft is extremely high. I didn't know about the game console internet registering/tracking. I'm going to have to do that today.
While no home I've ever lived in has been burgled or robbed, I was held up at gunpoint 4.5 years ago outside of a Ralphs grocery store. He tried to rob & carjack me (he was nice enough to let me load up the back of the Jeep with $200+ in groceries before he tried, scumbag.) I was able to bolt behind the Jeep, as it was tall & had tinted windows, & dash into the store, screaming my head off the whole time. He didn't get anything except a police helicopter chase.
Anything of value in our house is stored in our 6' tall Liberty Centurion safe that's bolted into concrete in our garage. Family heirlooms, legal paperwork, guns, jewelry, etc. We also have a full Brinks alarm system for the entire house. We're getting smash proof coating & a few smash sensors (for the nursery area) on our windows in a couple of months too. We live in a great neighborhood, but we are a corner house & they tend to get broken into much more often than nested homes.
We have a 3-car garage & the single unit that the safe is in has its own independent alarm system (that came with the house as the previous owner had a sick amount of power tools.)
The other ladies have given you some wonderful suggestions, especially the pawn shop one. You're right, that feeling of violation that lingers is awful. I can't say just how sorry I am. Good luck to you & your family. *hugs*

Not to freak you out or anything but stay on your toes. Burglars love hitting the same place right after the tenants have replaced/upgraded their stolen items. Stay safe!
