Ok... so, I was wondering if anyone has a better idea than etsy for selling things like hand made toys or altered photo albums (you know for weddings or special events). I also have been known to make necklaces and bracelets at times.

i'm very nervous about peoples opinions when it comes to my work...i do work as clean as possible, and every item is unique. part of my problem is that I am uncertain as to how people price their personal work.

any of the plush items i would be willing to sell are made from patterns i created myself, free hand. Which means the project from drafting through the final creating is all my own.

is there anyone that has any advice about how to go about it?

Friends of mine who handmake items have also started using Artfire.com. Not to mention you can always post them here. smile

Lindar: You should read this: Why is Handmade "So Expensive"?

Nearly everyone goes through the same thing when they start selling their work online. We are our own worst critic. Hopefully that article will help put things in perspective for you. Lex is a kick ass DIYer, and she also does her own drafting, designing, etc, so I figured you could relate.

As for places to sell... I've not seen your work, but if it is expensive (as much as I hate to say it) it likely won't sell here. Artfire isn't as popular as Etsy either. If you are trying to sell high priced top quality handmade goods, Etsy is the place you want to do it. Sell your stuff somewhere where people have no problem spending big bucks... that's Etsy. wink The second best thing you could do would be to have your own website. A lot goes into selling online. Especially if you are attempting to sell high dollar items. You can't just take a shitty photo and try to sell something for an arm and a leg. I see people try to do it all the time. It takes work. From the photos, to your descriptions, etc... When a person cares about the quality of their items, it shows. Those are the people who get sales. The ones who bust their ass to do things the right way. And believe me... there is a lot of ass busting involved. lol! She wasn't kidding when she said she works 6 to 8 hours a day. Been there. Making the item is almost easier than all the bullshit you have to do afterwards to sell it! :\

Anywho... She has other articles on the same site that may help you, so poke around if ya want. smile

Thank you very much ^_^.

i've saved the link, and Am going to start looking in to how to go about doing it right. ^_^. I am very committed to my work when i Do get things finished, I am just frequently nervous that people will think it's... odd ~_~

On the plus side, I do know that kids like the toys I make, my nephews played with them this weekend (even though they weren't technically "out" in the play one XD. The one just keeps walking off with it XD.
