I wondered what others thought about having GothAuction Stores. Much like eBay has. Might drum up more business promoting people to G.Auctions. I mean showing U have a consistant supply (usually) if you have a store.

So....Anyone else think this is something we could do. Codevore, is this possible?? I know I'd have one! I tell everyone to come here & all my THANK U letters that I send out on other sites I sell on, I put a link to GothAuctions. I just thought it'd be kinda cool to start having Goth-Stores!!

Great idea, Natey! smile

I think this feature would really help bring more sellers and buyers to the site. When you think of popular online market places today, some of the first sites that come to mind are sites like Etsy, or Art Fire, and unfortunately... Ebay. Ebay has been going downhill so fast the last few years. The only excuse sellers give anymore for still using it, is that they get more exposure there. Exposure hardly matters after you add up all those fees though. It seems sellers are looking for online market places where they can have their own little store front, and if you could give them that, I don't see why they wouldn't bite! smile

I have not seen many people reply with any suggestions yet, but there are some features I know I would personally love to have in my own Goth Auctions Store... wink

- I'm always a fan of simplified links. Something along the lines of www.YourGothAuctionsName.GothAuctions.com OR www.GothAuctions.com/YourGothAuctionsName. When it comes to advertising it helps both the seller and the site really.

- I like the idea of being able to edit the first page of your store. Being able to add a shop banner for instance, or perhaps other graphics, kind of like a "Splash" page. Here is an example from a random Ebay store:

http://stores.ebay.com/STREET-MODA?_trksid=p4340.l2563

- Being able to customize certain parts of your store. Adding graphics or changing colors, creating your own categories within the store, etc.

- A nice and clean image/thumbnail gallery would make or break it for me, to be honest. When a buyer clicks on a category (Clothing, for instance), it would be important to me that all the images to my items looked right on the page. Meaning, they were not stretched out, blurry, etc, due to sizing issues. It would look clean, like having your own website.

Once again, example from the same random Ebay store:

http://stores.ebay.com/STREET-MODA/Mens-...d=p4634.c0.m322

Any shop on Etsy would also be an example.

- Being able to sort through listings by price (low to high or high to low) would be awesome! Would be great on the main site as well. Being able to sort by most recently listed in the shops would be great too, for people who have favorite sellers. It's nice to be able to see new listings from your favorite sellers, instead of having to sift through relists when you visit their auctions often.

- Having some sort of way to add people to a "Favorite Sellers" list of some kind would be great!

- PayPal check-out?! laugh or Google? Allowing sellers to set up their check-out would be awesome. If buyers could pay through PayPal without having to wait for an e-mail from the seller with payment details and such, that would be awesome! But also allowing people to accept cash or money orders, since a lot of people are anti-PayPal and such. It would be great to be able to have a check-out process, but still let people choose what form of payment they will accept in their store.

This is exciting! I can't wait to see what you come up with!

-Aly-

I am SO glad many Sellers are into this idea! I know Code works a heck of a lot & has a TON going on....but I hope he's able to get something happening with this! I think with the word of GothAuctions getting out around Facebook & other sites, its def proving to bring in new Sellers!
On the other sites I sell on, I always include a note that lets people know I sell on here & I give the website! Ive had a BUNCh of people on Listia ask me about GothAuctions & have seen Several users from there come here!
I think GA Stores would be AWESOME & keep the site going!! smile

Haven't forgotten ... The "MyGothAuctions.com" site was meant as a starting point in the process of creating stores on GothAuctions.com... I just need to add more features.

The great part is now our forums CAN be connected to the main site's logins so that eventually we'll have a seamless experience here between sites and auction/non-auction features.

Hopefully in the next month I'll have a chance to work on this...

Keep the suggestions coming! Thanks smile

Here's a thought, just in general, it would be nice if we could just check off everything we wanted to relist and click a relist button and voila! the items would be relisted. Or items could be automatically relisted if they don't sell. Then again, I probably wouldn't have to worry about either if there were goth auctions stores.

Nooooo, no, no, no... lol. I've been a member of several sites that have this feature, and it leads to a ton of trouble. New members will list things, leave the site, and their items will still be listed for-ev-er. All the while, the bidders have no idea that the seller doesn't use the site anymore, since they have lots of auctions listed.

*I am TOTALLY FOR the relist check-list though!*

That would be such a helpful feature!

Another thing that would be helpful in general is if we could have a separate list of items we have sold like we do with items we have bought and bid on. That way it would be very easy to look and see what items someone bought when they pay you if they don't list what they bought with their payment. As it is I have to go through a heckuva long list of items, sold and not sold, in order to find what someone bought.

People are starting to look for new selling venues left and right! It is crazy the amount of people who are no longer selling on Ebay, and people are now even starting to leave Etsy! It's insane! It's gotten worse and worse each month, to the point where I really feel this is Goth Auctions chance to shine. Give people a place to go, you know? This site kicks ass! We just need some of the same features the other popular sites have... Goth Auctions stores, a PayPal checkout, or any type of check-out process, a better e-mail system (or PM system for buyers and sellers to use to communicate), update the categories on the front page, maybe add a few more fun features here or there and this place is freakin' GOLD. It actually has me pretty excited. People need better options than FeeBay and Etsy.

I absolutely agree with Aly. I just read online the reason eBay is offering "Free Days" to Sellers is because they are losing so many people on there. As in previous posts, unless your offering HUNDREDS of items on eBay, it really isn't worth selling there. You come out making $100.00 & by the time the Fees are done, seriously you've made around $60.00 only.

I really, really hope Codevore can look into this soon! I know he's busy & Code if U see this, believe me we all know how hard ya work but as Aly said this is a GREAT time for Goth to display themselves.
Since Facebook & those keeping the pages active I have seen a break out in Sellers & buyers! I also see we have a bunch of people from Listia and Esty coming here so I believe the Stores would be a HUGE addition to this site & really offer people a site that has an awesome community plus get some really cool things so in close, PLEAAASEEEE see if we cant get this thing in action!
The GA Community is growing, I see it! smile Way 2 GO Sellers & Buyers!! And all us Old timers (lol) who have stuck it out through everything, Well done

"About Me" was kind of meant to be the store area but not much has been done with it. Does anyone have suggestions for what we can do to the existing About Me pages to turn them into storefronts? We already have current auctions posted ... perhaps thumbnail featured auctions or something? Let me know your suggestions. Thanks!

From the About Me thread I posted under "Help the Site".

"The only issue I've had with my about me page is whenever I edit it, I have to redo all of the html every time or the text in the main section turns into a jumbled mess.
Would it be possible to fix this? (Ideally something like we have with the forums would be great. Manually inserting most html is unnecessary and formatting tools are provided (font size/color, links, lists, etc.)"

A gallery instead of list format would be great for auction listings on the A.M. pages would make it seem more like a store front as well. (Example: Etsy shop front pages.)

The main issue is having to strip out bad html/css code when re-desplaying it in the edit form after you've already saved it (in other words: CSS, when saved and then displayed later in an editable form, can cause that edit form to not work properly and then you can't save your changes.)

That's why I have it strip out the code...so that you can edit it properly in case whatever code you had saved interferes with the edit form.

This bug should be worked out once I get an open source WYSIWYG editor in place soon...

Sounds good!

What about the gallery view instead of list view? Will that be something that is possible?

Yep that's the first thing I'm working on right now actually...

Also since the gallery images thumbnails have been revamped I made gallery view the default view no on the entire site...so I think it's going to become the standard now.

Thanks!
