I have seen many people bumping their auction/promotions posts every day, and sometimes several times a day.

Please give everyones promotions a chance by not abusing these free promotion sections.

Thank you.

Can we reply to our own post if we have a new auction to announce, rather than making a new post?

oooooo.. nevermind my "Help Me" question...

I thought that it was "dont bump your posts so often that other people's posts don't get views" not "don't bump your posts at all"

My question as well, or is it acceptible to have several posts about different auctions ??

Thanks!

I'd personally prefer seeing one post, with you replying only if you've added more auctions (or items in a progressive lot). I also am fine with people replying to other people's auction posts (and thus, the original poster replies as well). It's the posts where people blatantly "bump" their auction listings that bother me, when no one has replied, when they haven't added anything new, or whatever.

Gotcha, for clearing that up smile

I feel kinda bad with 3 recent posts, even though they involve different auctions..

Eek, that's what I thought it was, too. In fact, that would make sense.
I think no bumping period is a bit obsessive. I usually (when selling) make 1 post per week, then bump it once only (usually 4 days later). I don't have a lot of time to write a whole new post during the week as I work upwards of 60+ hours (I suppose I can just copy & paste though *shrug*).
My point is if it's obsessive posting that is bothersome, what's the difference whether someone posts 10x/day or bumps 10x/day?! In fact, I think it would be more of a priority to crack down on the 10x/day posters as they're the ones who clog the board w/ multiple threads. At least the 10x/day bumper is confined to one or a few threads.
Yes, I know I'm exaggerating, but I think my point stands. Either way, I will follow this new rule so as to not have my 1 bump per week post deleted when I have never blatantly abused GO forum space by bumping a post one (maybe two at most) time. I just think it's a bit of a not-well-thought-out rule. Then again, I'm no admin, so what do I know, right?! *shrug*

So if I put up some 21 day auctions and after two weeks I make a post abut my auctions ending in a few days, is it gonna get deleted. I thought it would be ok to re advertise my auctions after so long.

Readvertising is fine... going back into your original post and putting a "bump" type of reply to move it back to the top of the auctions is not fine. Adding new auctions to a post is fine. But purposely bumping your post for the sake of exposure is not. Does that make sense?

?? mine got deleted - I've been randoming adding new auctions today, so after a few hours I'd post about them. I just added to my post with an update about more auctions I had added. I wasn't bumping for added exposure - I was adding to my previous message, so why was it deleted?

If you are going to bump your post back up because your auctions are ending, or several days later, I don't mind as much.

There is no reason to be bumping a post every day or several times in one day.

O.K. this is really bugging the crap out of me! I posted about my new auctions and told everyone about how new pictures were added because some auctions needed them. I have it up, I get pushed down because other people are bumping their posts within a day of each other and I am the one to get removed! WTF? I really don't think that is fare! I have had 4 of my posted removed but others are doing it more than me yet they are not being removed! Why me? Did I do something to piss you off or something? I am not over posting!

Yowza. Liberty-do you realize there is more than one person with access/ability to remove/delete posts? No need to be rude about it and you could have also sent admin/mods an email/private message.

There is no reason to post in this section every day. That goes for everyone.
I deleted several peoples posts, not just yours.

If I see someones name showing two or three times near the top of the page I start deleting. It is not personal, I just even it out so everyone has a fair chance for showing their auctions.

I wasn't mad, just a bit annoyed. I fully understand that there is a ton of other people that like to post about their auctions too. I guess because I don't pay much attention it just looks a lot like mine are being removed. I don't think I was being rude at all. I was just expressing my point of view and explaining why I was upset. I guess I could have sent a PM, but just incase anyone felt the same way I wanted everyone to see the responce I recieved.

Noc. I wasn't pointing this out toward you if that is what it looked like. I just wanted to know why. I guess saying that I was already annoyed today won't help but I didn't meen to sound rude if that is what it looked like. I fully understand why you do what you do. I just wanted to know why is all. Thank you for your responce.

Bumping the do not bump your auctions thread in the hopes that people will see it highlighted and actually read it. wink

I hate deleting posts, but I will do it if I see continual bumping of auction posts. Adding more items in the same day? Sure, post an update. But please stop with the "ending in 13 seconds!" type of bumps. Especially if you've only recently posted the auction to begin with.

I have to say I'm sorry for "bumping" my posts. I didn't really realize that I was doing that. I should've read this before doing ANYTHING else. I do apologize for my unintentional "bumping". That wasn't my intention at all. I don't think of the numbers of the people that reply to my forum posts. I added a message that just, I guess, was a desparate plea to people out there that I'm trying to sell my prized clothing that I don't want to get rid of to try and earn money (which is still slowly rising) in order to get my car fixed. This is my only source of income, other than just living under my parent's roof. So I apologize for any misunderstandings and my umm ignorance(?) to the rules. I'll be more careful in the future.

Just a thought... I think if anyone plans on listing a bunch of items in one day, then you should wait until you get them all posted before advertising them. It seems like recently a few people are advertising their items, and then updating the post like 3 times or more in one day when they add new items. Why not just wait until all the auctions are posted and THEN advertise, so you don't end up bumping your post 4 times in one day?

*Edited to add: I know that there are times when we think we are done listing auctions for the day, but then we find more stuff to list later. It happens to everyone. wink However, I just think that updating your post 3 or 4 times in a row is a bit much, and is not really fair to everyone else who wants their auctions seen.

I think there should also be a rule about how much you post about your auctions. I mean, someone here I see posts a new thread it seems like EVERY DAY. It's a little excessive and not fair to everybody else who posts in moderation, you know?
