Long story short, I've got an unhappy buyer from eBay. She filed a claim on Feb 22nd saying the item came damaged. No big deal, it was insured. Took her a couple weeks to get back to me, as I requested to obviously see the damage. She claimed health problems were keeping her away from the computer.
Again, whatever, no big deal. I'm patient. It's been a little dramatic since. But I actually do want to refund her (even if only to shut her up). So Paypal gives me a couple options when I log into the Resolution Center. I can refund her, I can reject the claim, etc etc.
Now, here's the important part. Paypal put a HOLD on those funds when she began the claim process on Feb 22nd.
So I hit the refund link, and I get an error telling me I don't have the funds in my account....yeah, because they were being held! I don't usually keep a balance in Paypal, if there is one, I spend it because that's what it's for to me. As well, I use it for shopping online with my credit card, as it's safer. I guess I assumed when i selected the option to end the dispute & refund her, that Paypal would release those held funds directly to her.
Apparently not.
My timeframe to respond is expiring soon, in which case paypal will rule in her favour...which I'm fine with. But what happens then? Will my account be in the negative? Will they take from my credit card? Will they REMEMBER THEY HELD THOSE FUNDS?
Bah! I've put in a help request with Paypal online, as the last time I called them I was on hold FOREVER.
I'm also waiting for CanadaPost to get back to me regarding my potentially refund for the damaged item. Yippee.
